Here is the guide some of you have been waiting for!
To upgrade you must have either 1.50, 3.02 oe, 3.03 oe, 3.10 oe or 3.30 oe firmware on your PSP. If you are unsure of what firmware you have go to system settings on your PSP and then go to system information, it should say there, if you don’t have one of these firmwares please go to my PSP downgrade guide Here. UberGaming take no responsibility for anything happening to your PSP and you install the 3.40 oe-a firmware on your own accord.
Okay, now for the guide.
First, download the 3.40 oe-a firmware files from Here. Then download the 3.40 and 1.50 firmware EBOOTS Here and Here.
1. Place the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% folders from the 3.40 oe-a firmware package to the GAME folder on your PSP (It can be found in the PSP folder that is in the root of your PSP memory stick) and then rename the 3.40 firmware EBOOT to 340.PBP and the 1.50 firmware EBOOT to 150.PBP, this MUST be done, then copy these two files to the ‘oeupdmaker’ folder.
2. Now disconnect your PSP from your computer then navigate to the GAME tab on your PSP and run the 3.40 oe-a update maker, this will create a file called DATA.DXAR in your oeupdmaker folder. Now connect your PSP to your computer again and place the 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% folders from the 3.40 oe-a firmware package into your GAME folder and place the DATA.DXAR file from the oeupdmaker folder into the 340oeflasher folder.
3. Now disconnect your PSP from your computer and navigate to the game tab on your PSP and run the 3.40 OE-A flasher and follow the on screen instructions. Once it’s finished your PSP will now be running 3.40 OE-A! To check, go to the settings tab>system settings>system settings.
Now you can run homebrew, PSP games and ISO’s (UberGaming do not recommend the use of ISO’s unless you own the game) from the memory stick option in the GAME tab on your PSP!

You can download them at PSPiso.com (you have to register first) and you just put them in a folder called ‘ISO’ which you have to make and put the folder into the root of your memory stick,the ISO’s will come up in the GAME>Memory stick tab on your PSP. Installing XMB’s on 3.40 oe-a is very risky, if you want a guide just type XMB install guide or something on google.
Upgrade from 3.30 oe-a’, just follow the guide.

Yes it can 🙂 for ISO’s, make a new folder in the root of your memory stick called ‘ISO’ and put the .ISO’s there. You can then run the ISO’s from GAME>MEMORY STICK on your PSP.
I haven’t tried upgrading from 3.10 oe-a myself but I think it would work if you upgraded to 3.30 oe-a then to 3.40 eo-a, just look on google for a guide.

Yeah, just follow the instructions and you should be fine.
Nope, you don’t need any emulators, just put the ISO’s in the ISO folder which you have to make and run them from memory stick in the game tab. There is a guide on how to play PS1 games on PSP on the site aswell so check that out if you want.

I have upgraded to 3.40e and I can play iso’s fine, but when I try to play my emulators (in raw form I should add not iso) it says the game could not be started. Should I also change them to iso format and put them in the iso folder? Please assist.

You have put the emulator/s into the GAME folder in your PSP yeah? Also, some emulators are incompatible with ‘oe’ firmwares.

the 340.PBP and 150.PBP files you gave us to download where already named like that. im confused i followed everything and it wont upgrade. plus, when i went to the Game tab to run the upgrade there was a corrupted file along with the upgrade file. what am i doing wrong?
by the way, i have a version 2.81 but it has no oe-a next to it. do i have to do something else first?
Ha, yeah =] you have to use our ‘3.50 downgrade guide’ to get to firmware 1.50, it tells you everything you need to know there.

I HAVE UPGRADED FROM 3.03OE-C TO 3.40OE AND WHEN I TRY TO PLAY MY BACKED UP HARRY POTTER GAME IT WON’T LOAD.
ALSO WHEN I WENT TO THE RELOADER SCREEN THERE IS NOTHING ON THE CONFIGURATION MENU (THE MENU TO NOT USE UMD DISK TO LOAD A BACKED UP GAME)

Please don’t type in ALL caps it’s so annoying. ha. So you have no UMD in the drive? Put one in then! I don’t know why it’s not coming up in recovery but just go out and buy a really cheap UMD, it’ll do no harm =]
sorry bout the all caps. i mean on the main menu of the recovery mode (when u hold R after you’ve powered on the psp) i go to the config menu and there is nothing there. I mean when i try to go that option of using no UMD to load the game it’s not showing, theres suppose to be at least 6 options i can choose from on the config menu but it’s blank and the screen freezes and i have to reboot the psp. Can i downgrade the 3.40oe to 3.03 or 1.5 agian and reinstall 3.40oe?
I can play older games like prince of persia, hotshots four and stuff like that but the new games like harry potter and hot brain it won’t load past the intro screen of the game. any ideas?

hi please help. i just downgrade from 3.50 to 1.50 with lumines. im trying to upgrade to 3.40oe but got stuck. i download the 3.40 oe-a firmware the 150.PBP and the 340.PBP. i uploade the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% folders and put 150pbp and 340pbp in the oeupdmaker folder i disconnect from the PC and run the 3.40 oe-a update maker. when i run it, it say that 150.PBP cannot open file and just exit. please help.

i downgraded my 2.71 psp with TA-82 plates to 1.5 so i can play homebrew games and nes emulators. Its simple,
Make two new folders in the same page as your PSP folder and your MP_ROOT folder. Rename the folders “ISO” and “VIDEO”.
Your ISO’s go directly into the ISO folder and you can access them by selecting the game folder on your actual psp menu.
Your video files (mp4) go directly into the VIDEO folder and you can access them from the video folder on your psp menu too.
Please note that some video files will only work when put into one of the folders within the MP_ROOT folder.
In order for the ISO’s to work, you WILL need a UMD in the drive!
All you are doing is tricking the psp into thinking that the UMD is actually the ISO you are loading from the psp.

hey sorry im a noob when it comes to this kinda stuff im currently in 1.5 and doing this when im making the dax file how long does it take cause i left it for like 10 min and it didnt do anything but i turned it off and one and the dax was in the floder but it was 0kb then i moved and i went to run the flasher and it told me that it had an incorrect dax file WTF? i really need 3.40 cause i grabed the new tales game and i dont want to get rid of 1.5 (the whole emulator thing if u can email me with upgrading for noobs guide even thou the one up top is simiple i think i just get stuck @ the creating a dax file.) i will forever be grateful

My current psp firmware is 3.40 OE-A. I made a folder named ISO in my memorystick root and copied an .iso into it. When I go to my memory stick on my psp, I can clearly see the .iso file, which loads a beatifull picture of the game with some text, like it does with demo’s. But when I press x to start the game, my psp shows the psp-logo then goes black and doesn’t do anything. Only thing I can do now is remove my battery to restart my psp, normal manual restart isn’t possible.
Could somebody explain to me what I am doing wrong and what I can do to play the .iso in question?

Quck Question. I updated from 3.30oe to 3.40oe now some of my iso’s show the first psp screen then go black, when i press the home button i can exit to the home screen, not all are doing this, Any Ideas??

but after installing everything… my psp prompted ” press O for a recovery” nothing else… i thought it was a procedure , i proceed to pressed O .. until now my psp still cant start up….. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks..
To some who have asked the question:
If you are running 1.50, then you place oeupdmaker folders in the /psp/game folder on your memory stick. If you are already running OE and are simply upgrading to a higher version, then you need to place the oeupdmaker folders in the /psp/game150 folder. There is also a really good readme file contained in the .rar package.

To add on to my previous entry, the same is true for the 340oeflasher folders as well. They will need to go to the /psp/game folder if currently running 1.50, or /psp/game150 if currently running a previous version of OE.

well if ur upgrade is not complete than u have to upgarde it again and thn try,,,to make sure if ur psp is of 3.40 oe-a,,u must go to setting and system information,,if it shows 3.40 oe-a thn u can play iso games but one umd disk is must,,
ohh. uhmm.. i tried to install it again and i tried to put it in a different folder instead of GAME. coz i have 3 folders entitled GAME. (GAME, GAME150, GAME330).
i don’t know why it is like that but anyway, instead of placing it to GAME, i placed it to GAME150 and it worked! HAHA. now, i want to know if there is any SNES and GBA emulator for 3.30 oe-a? if there is, can you please tell me where and how can i install it?

I have PSP 1.5 and I installed 3.40 OE-A… I made a Folder by the name of ISO and put and iso game in it… but it was not playing it not even showing the game icon in game/memory stick in the PSP.. so i decided to delete that iso and put another one BUT by mistake I formated my memory stick…. Is it still possible to make another an ISO folder again and put iso file in that or do I have to install the whole thing again because as i formated the memory stick the file DATA.DXAR has been deleted but still the console is using 3.40 OE-A firmware…

after installing 3.40 oe-a format your memory stick. then folders will automatically be created. you will see an ISO folder there. paste the game with has an iso/cso format. there you go,

i saw a frnd of mine downgrading his psp……….after he was on 1.5firmware, he opend an application from his computer and all he had to do is click install once the psp was connected on usb mode….after it installed the psp rebooted and 3.40oe-a was installed……….how is that possible…….what did he do i really cant understand…please help
i have a 3.03oe-c firmware and I want to upgrade to 3.40 oe-a. is it possible to have a direct upgrade without downgrading first to 1.5? It is becuase there are new games that only play on 3.40 oe and cannot be opened in 3.03 oe-c like transformers etc……

Hi! i updated two psps to 3.40 OE-a just as this guide instructed and on my first PSP i was 100% successful! Everythings works from ISOs to homebrews…however on the second psp the firmware says 3.40 OE-a but i noticed that it skips the SCE logo when i turn it on….i am aware that this can be desabled on recovery mode but i did not disable it manually and when i try to go into configurations in recovery mode the screen becomes blank and shuts off in a few second
I believe this is what is causing it to not run the games i put into the card..is there anything i can do?..i tried repeating the 3.40 OE-a set up but i get the same thing every time..i also tried starting from the beggining and upgrading to 3.50 to do the downgrade exploit but when i try to run the 3.50 update it says “unable to run game” (DADADADA) something like that..is there anything i can do?
oh and by the way Sunny there is no downgrader for the 3.51 FW at the moment

Sounds like you may be seeing the screen brightness glitch that’s popular with 3.40oea. Basically, I think it only affects those PSP’s which do not have a TA-085 motherboard.
Most users found that when starting some ISO, or homebrew games, their screens would go black. Plugging in their power, and then unplugging it would correct the issue and their screens would be visible again.
What was actually happening, was that the screen brightness is different on a non TA-085 board, and you have to simply press one of your brightness up/down buttons for your screen to come back on.
Give it a try and let me know…

ANSWER: I had the same problem – literally all you have to do is follow the instructions above but put the files in the GAME150 folder rather than GAME and it works a treat! I’ve just done mine! Good luck!

i just upgraded my psp to 3.4 oe-a and having similar problems as some ppl. i have umd and put my iso’s into iso folder. whenever the game is started from the game menu, it will show the psp logo screen and turn to black. then will freeze and i have to restart.

When upgrading, make sure to place the oeupdmaker files in a game150 folder within the psp file (if you are running on oe or se). it will not work if not in a game150 folder

hi please help. i just downgrade from 3.50 to 1.50 with lumines. im trying to upgrade to 3.40oe but got stuck. i download the 3.40 oe-a firmware the 150.PBP and the 340.PBP. i uploade the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% folders and put 150pbp and 340pbp in the oeupdmaker folder i disconnect from the PC and run the 3.40 oe-a update maker. when i run it, it say that 150.PBP cannot open file and just exit. please help.
I have 3.03 oe-c installed on my psp, so will the guide to upgrade to 3.40 oe work for me? do i need to do anything different?

i did all that correct, even reformated the card and redownloaded a couple times too, and when i clicked on the flasher, it said ” invalid daxr file for this update”…

wassup yall! i found it! listen up! instead of downloading dis stuff to thegame folder. download to da game150 folder and it works. i just did it like to mine and my friends psp and it worked great! trust me it works. just follow the steps but put it in the game150 folder!

I upgraded to 3.40 OE firmware. Problem is that I can play some games but cannot play some games either iso or cso games. Do I need to change something in recovery mode?
